Ina's photo project

Ina Conkic is one of my neighbours, she made this photo. She photographs the little shops in the neighbourhood.
De Pijp is in the south eastern part of Amsterdam, close to the city centre and it was built in the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. The neighbourhood has many special small shops, but things are changing fast now. The neighbourhood has become popular and big chain stores and fastfood restaurants are moving in. Ina wants to capture the authentic atmosphere before it is gone. Thank you Ina!

sea glass

Just a few weeks back, I was on the beach in the little town of Montgat, northern Spain. It is a great beach for finding sand washed sea glass and tile fragments.

everything is new!

The past seven months our house and my studio-store were totally renovated. I am glad that finally we could move our furniture and belongings back in. My studio-store has a new and fresh look.

Altough the official opening party will be in a month or so, I already opened the door last week. Hope you like it!

moving the shop

Now I am in the middle of moving all the plates, dishes, bags, cupboards, chairs, tables etc. to the temporary shop a few houses up the street on no 34.
I am so lucky that I found this temporary place so close to the current store.
I hope I can open the door next week. This is how the new shop window looks.

demolition sale

There is a big renovation at hand.
You might know that the city of Amsterdam is built on piles. Well the piles under our building have to be renewed and to do that the groudfloor appartment and shop first will be demolished and after putting the new piles in the ground will be rebuilt. So, oh my, we have to leave our house, atelier and shop we love to live and work in for a big while (about 7 months).
Last month we have spent all days packing and sorting our stuff and bringing many, many boxes to the storage, to the charity shop and to the dump. Next few weeks we will be moving to a temporary living space in Osdorp, wich is one of Amsterdams outskirts. We will be living in a flat on the 7th floor!
I am very lucky to have found a temporary workshop and store just a few houses down the street from the current shop.I already started moving my workshop there and in a week or two I hope to open the doors of the new space at Eerste Jacob van Campenstraat 34.
But first there will be a big sale in the current store this weekend! Prices of my old work will be reduced. There will even be a give-away-corner where you can make a choice from stuff from our house, our video collection and some clothing from my wardrobe for free!! Come on over and bring your friends!

temporary show window

Amsterdams smallest departmentstore made a show window just around the corner of Amsterdams biggest departmentstore and the Royal Palace. The coming weeks Atelier tempels temporary show window can be seen at a little alley in Amsterdams city centre called Keizerrijk at the side of gallery The Times in the building of Algemeen handelsblad. This window is part of the project 'a Frontside for the Backside' by architect-to-be Ivar van der Zwan

The alley has a gate which is mostly open at daytime

Amsterdam map scarves

I designed an Amsterdam city centre map with the musea and my favourite restaurants and hotspots and had it digitally printed on 100% cotton voile in four colourways. The scarves are for sale in my atelier-store. To shop online you will have to wait a little. I am working on a brand new online shop at the moment.
